IPTV for NHL: Every Period From Opening Night to the Stanley Cup

The NHL Season

• September: training camps and preseason games.
• Early October to mid-April: an 82-game regular season.
• January 1: the outdoor Winter Classic.
• Mid-April: the Stanley Cup Playoffs begin with 16 teams.
• June: the Stanley Cup Final, then the draft and the start of free agency on July 1.

US and Canadian Broadcasts in One Place

In the US, national NHL games are split between a few networks, with regional sports channels covering the rest. In Canada, national broadcasts, Saturday night hockey and French-language coverage sit on separate networks again. Following a team across the border usually means two TV setups.

Mom IPTV includes both, so a Leafs fan in Florida or a Rangers fan in Toronto can watch from the same plan. Read our hockey streaming guide for the wider hockey calendar, including juniors and international tournaments.

Playoff Hockey Tips

• First-round nights can have three or four games; add every playoff channel to favorites.
• Overtime can run long, so restart your device between games on busy nights.
• Pick the FHD version of a channel to follow the puck clearly.
• Turn off your TV's motion smoothing; it blurs fast skating on compressed streams.

For French-language broadcasts, look for the French channels in the Canadian group of your player.

More for Hockey Fans

The NHL is part of the wider Mom IPTV sports schedule, and Canadian viewers can see everything else that's included with Mom IPTV in Canada. If a playoff stream stutters, our streaming troubleshooting checklist has the quick fixes.

Outdoor Games and Special Events

Some of the season's most memorable games happen outside regular arenas. The Winter Classic on New Year's Day is played outdoors, often in a football or baseball stadium, and outdoor series games bring the same atmosphere at other points in the season. The All-Star weekend and the draft round out the special events, all covered on the sports channels.

Following a Team Through the Playoffs

Four rounds of best-of-seven series mean as many as 28 games for a team that goes all the way. Early rounds can have games almost every night, so pin your team's channels to favorites and keep the TV guide's time zone set correctly for late Western games.

Hockey for Canadian Expats in the US

Canadians living in the US often miss Saturday night hockey and the French-language broadcasts from home. Because Mom IPTV carries Canadian networks alongside American ones, you can keep watching the same broadcasts you grew up with from anywhere in the States.
